Singapore Squash Rackets Association (SSRA) is the National Sports Association (NSA) for the sport of Squash in Singapore. We are governed by Sport Singapore (SportSG) and is a member of the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC), South East Asian Squash Federation (SEASF), Asian Squash Federation (ASF) and World Squash Federation (WSF).

SSRA was formed in 1970 and we are an Institute of Public Character (IPC) charity organisation. SSRA aims to promote, support and advance the sport of Squash in Singapore through our core values of Integrity, Teamwork and Diversity.


National Coach

The National Coach will be part of the national coaching setup, where he/she will play a pivotal role, together with the National Head Coach, in developing and implementing the mid and long term strategic and tactical campaigns of the Singapore Squash multi-year sports plan (MYSP) and objectives of the SSRA. The National Coach reports directly to the National Head Coach.

Roles and Responsibilities
HIGH PERFORMANCE
  • Develop, along with the Head Coach, and implement, the High Performance Training Programme.
  • Adopt a hands-on training approach — engage in sparring and court drills with the athletes.
  • Maintain and update meticulous records and files of individual athletes/teams with regular assessment of the players’ core capabilities, discipline, and development progress.
  • Prepare analysis of training and competition achievements of athletes against the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) set.
  • Develop pathways of players identified for the professional and junior circuits.
  • Travel with players when required for training and tournaments to manage administration and provide coaching support.
  • Ensure players maintain discipline, and adhere to the Player’s Agreement and Code of Conduct.
SPORT DEVELOPMENT
  • Develop, conduct and supervise the training programme in consultation with the Head Coach.
  • Assist with grassroots and community outreach coaching programmes.
  • Identify and talent scout high potential talents for recruitment into the High Performance Programme – from SSRA tournaments and other events around Singapore.
STAKEHOLDER AND RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
  • Undertake all responsibilities with a clear understanding of the Singapore Squash’s MYSP, SSRA objectives and the Head Coach’s plans.
  • Maintain a clear channel of communication with all players and parents.
  • Strive to continually build stronger relationships within the squash community as a whole through regular communications with athletes, parents, coaches and clubs.
  • Assist with and attend SSRA organised events and tournaments as required.
  • Attend and contribute at all SSRA meetings as required.
Skills and Qualifications
  • 2 years previous coaching experience with elite, national or state players preferred.
  • Minimum Diploma holder in any discipline is preferred.
  • Possess a minimum Asian Squash Federation (ASF) or World Squash Federation (WSF) level 2 coaching certification.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Former Professional Squash Association (PSA) or other elite competition experience would be an advantage.
  • Experienced, or have willingness to learn, the Microsoft Office suite and other relevant applications required for the job.
  • Must be technologically savvy to a certain extent.

High Performance Manager

The High Performance Manager (HPM) is responsible for the management and operation of the High Performance (HP). He/she oversees and maintains the development and implementation of a comprehensive athlete development system, which includes: national team HP programmes and their developmental pathways, national coaching staff liaison, anti-doping programme, athlete assistance and support, HP and technical liaison for major games and tournaments.

The HPM reports directly to the Coaching Committee Charwoman and General Manager of the Singapore Squash Rackets Association (SSRA). He/she monitors and provides support to the coaches. For all decisions pertaining to planning and execution of HP programmes and pathways, the HPM would need to seek approval from the Coaching Management team.

Roles and Responsibilities

The role will cover five key areas:

  • High Performance Planning and Management
  • Budgeting
  • Programme Management
  • Athlete Management
  • Stakeholder Management
HIGH PERFORMANCE PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT
  • Develop, monitor and evaluate the high performance programmes and pathways through annual work plans and performance indicators established within the Multi-Year Sport Plan (MYSP) and the Singapore High Performance Sports handbook.
  • To lead and jointly develop 2023-2026 (extended to 2030) MYSP alongside General Manager and Coaching Management team, and to update on a bi-annual basis.
  • Serve as key performance liaison between Singapore Squash Rackets Association (SSRA), Sport Singapore Institute (SSI), National Youth Sports Institute (NYSI) and Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC).
  • Develop and integrate long-term performance analysis tools and reporting mechanisms for programme evaluation and monitoring, to assist in the communication of HP programme objectives to coaches and athletes.
  • Quarterly reporting on all HP programme initiatives, including a detailed analysis of results vs. performance objectives and recommendations for future improvements.
  • Work closely with national coaches for implementing the high performance programmes and day-to-day training plans.
  • Work closely with SSRA affiliates to build a harmonious environment for coaches and athletes developmental pathways.
  • Develop and maintain procedures/processes relating to HP.
BUDGETING
  • Devise and be accountable for the annual HP programme budgets.
  • Oversee and track budget for all training and competitions of National Team.
  • To prepare expenditure statements against the approved budget for all training and competitions.
  • To work closely with Secretariat on the preparation and submission of the various financial schemes and grants for National Athletes – SPEX Grant, SG Annual Grant, etc.
PROGRAMME MANAGEMENT
  • Ensure effective and efficient delivery of the structures and system of the HP programmes and pathways with the approved budget.
  • Ensure that the reporting and performance monitoring systems are in place and meeting the requirements of SSI and NYSI.
  • Work closely with the national coaches in supervising the preparation of annual HP national team training and competition programmes.
  • Work closely with the national coaches in the areas of development and communication of the HP team programmes, including athlete and team selection.
  • Support the implementation and evaluation of long-term training and competition plans for the HP national teams and develop monitoring tools for annual and MYSP against objectives reviews.
  • Ensure that the national training centre, national team athletes, and the SSRA are informed of all HP national team programme matters in a timely manner.
  • Lead and manage all related SSI, NYSI and SNOC requirements with regards to Sporting Excellence (SPEX) programmes, including but not limited to spexTAG Carding and spex Scholarship.
ATHLETE MANAGEMENT
  • Oversee and maintain procedures relating to the human resource policies and financial matters pertaining to athletes such as leave applications, insurance, expense claims, results and bio data.
  • Oversee recruitment and renewal contracts for all HP national team athletes.
  • Ensure, through the communication and monitoring of the athlete agreements, that all HP national team athletes are:
    1. Training under adequate conditions and are monitored by coaches on a daily basis.
    2. Adhering to the weekly, monthly and annual competitive training programmes.
    3. Complying with the terms of their agreement.
STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT
  • Coordinate all communications pertaining to HP between SSRA and athletes/parents.
  • Coordinate and attend all SSRA and SSI/NYSI/SNOC high performance related meetings.
  • Vet the agendas and drafting of meeting minutes for these meetings.
  • Submit periodic reports and meeting minutes to the SSRA Management Committee and Coaching committee regarding on-going HP and national team programme matters.
  • Coordinate with the disciplinary committees and handle all matters relating to coaches and athletes code of conduct and discipline.
  • Review, revise and develop appropriate policy documents as required.
Skills, Qualifications and Other Requirements
  • Degree preferably in Sports Science or Management.
  • Experience in Squash as an elite athlete or coach will be an advantage.
  • Experience in Sport Performance Management will be an advantage.
  • Possess leadership ability to lead a team.
  • Must be technologically savvy to a certain extent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organisational and time management skills.
  • Willingness work on weekends and off office hours when required.
  • Availability to travel with National Team when required.

Events and Programmes Executive

TThe Events and Programmes Executive shall be responsible for the management of the Organisation’s administration, programmes and events, ensuring operational excellence so as to bolster the SSRA Management Committee in its endeavour to evolve Singapore Squash, in concert with developing the organisation’s prominence, locally and regionally.

Roles and Responsibilities
PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plan and execute squash tournaments and events following SSRA guidelines and operating procedures. Events may run over evenings and weekends, and presence at all tournaments and events is compulsory.
  • Plan and run social media campaigns relevant to each event.
  • Procure facilities, services, collaterals and equipment in accordance with the SSRA guidelines; ensure timely and accurate delivery of purchased goods and services.
  • Prepare budgets for all tournament and events.
SUPPORTING ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the National team with administrative matters such as booking of flights and other activities.
  • Liaise with internal and external parties as necessary for administration and office management.
  • Provide input to the team, conceptualising and implementing strategies to broaden the reach of squash activities in Singapore through grassroots engagement programmes.

Other duties commensurate with the level of the post shall be further determined by the SSRA, where applicable.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum A Level or Diploma, preferably in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Sports Management, Physical Education or related discipline.
  • Minimum one year of relevant experience, preferably honed in the sports industry (eg. National Sports Associations or recreation/school clubs).
  • Personal experience or interest in the sport of Squash would be an advantage.
  • Strong record in issues management, with experience in events and project management.
  • Conversant with social media platforms, with a passion for keeping abreast of related trends.
  • Computer literate in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); desktop publishing will be an added advantage.
  • Possess resourcefulness and acute analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Meticulous, and understands the importance of excellent organisation skills.
  • Enjoy a strong and active interest in sports.

Accounts and Admin Executive

The Accounts and Admin Executive serves to provide the General Manager and outsource Accounting company support with the Account Payables and Receivables, and other accounting duties. The role will be a part-time position, totalling 20 hours over 2-3 days per week.

Roles and Responsibilities
PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Account Payables and Receivables
  • Checking and matching of invoices against quotations, if any.
  • Preparation of invoices in the accounting system.
  • Proper filing of all AP and AR documentation in storage.
  • Preparation of documentation for payment purposes.
Other Accounting Dutiess
  • Perform bi-weekly bank reconciliation.
  • Ensure selected bank balances are tallied with the restricted funds.
  • Monthly tallying of CPF contributions submitted.
  • Ensuring that all non-cash transactions are booked into the accounting system.
  • Produce quarterly reports on account balances based on fund types.
SUPPORTING ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the National team with administrative matters such as booking of flights and other activities, when required.
  • Support SSRA local events on admin and financial matters.
Skills and Qualifications
  • LCCI or ACCA certification/diploma, or in process of obtaining one.
  • Minimum one year of relevant experience in an accounting role.
  • Personal experience or interest in the sport of Squash would be an advantage.
  • Computer literate in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Must be technologically savvy to a certain extent.
  • Meticulous, and understands the importance of excellent organisation skills.
