With participation doubling from the previous edition and the allure of Asian Junior Super Series points, this year’s event was nothing short of electrifying.

Kareena Sashikumar and Jacintha Han displayed unwavering resilience in securing their maiden national representation titles, both having to come back in their wins. Despite battling a stomach flu, Kareena staged a remarkable comeback, while Jacintha triumphed in a thrilling contest. National Junior Champion Ong Zhe Sim sealed Singapore’s dominance with a third Gold.

Other podium finishers included Silver medallists Kaelen Low (BU11) and Naisha Singh (GU15), alongside Bronze medallists Kelihla Cheong (GU13), Rachel Markose (GU13), Jackrish Sashikumar (BU13), Rehaan Singh (BU15), Ethan Kuan (BU17), Lee Zi Fang (GU19).

“Securing three Golds at such a prestigious event is a testament to the investments we have injected into the National Training Programme and exposing our juniors to various international events in the last few years. Witnessing our juniors ascend the podium is incredibly rewarding,” remarked Alex Wan, General Manager of Singapore Squash, who travelled with the team to Bangkok.

Accompanied by dedicated coaches and managers, Team Singapore’s 22 athletes showcased exceptional talent across five age group divisions: U11, U13, U15, U17, and U19. This overseas experience not only broadened their horizons but also provided invaluable exposure to international competition.

Following their remarkable success, the Singapore junior team will shift their focus to the Henri Charpentier Lion City Junior Open at Kallang Squash Centre from May 29 to June 2, 2024, before embarking on the Asian Junior Individual Championships in Islamabad, Pakistan from June 25-29, 2024.
