ONCOCARE Singapore Junior Open 2025 – an AJSS Platinum first

14 December 2025
Singapore: The ONCOCARE Singapore Junior Open 2025 kicked off on 9 December. Held across two venues, Singapore Swimming Club and Kallang Squash Centre, the following six days saw intense matches culminating in a thrilling finals day on 14 December that saw new challengers and familiar faces claim the top place in their respective events.
This year’s event saw a total of 409 participants from 24 countries participating in ten event categories, including 113 from Singapore. Organised by local squash academy Team Ultimate Squasher, a total of 959 matches were held over six days of the event. This year is the first time the event has attained the Asian Junior Super Series (AJSS) Platinum status, the highest status attainable for an AJSS event. This showcases how the ONCOCARE Singapore Junior Open has grown over the years to become a major fixture in the Asian junior circuit for players in the region and beyond.

The finals day of the Open was held once again to a packed viewing gallery at the Kallang Squash Centre, brimming with supporters from across the Asia and beyond. Among the finalists were familiar faces and new challengers eager to claim the top place in their respective events.

In the Boys’ Under-19 final, second-seed Mohammed Alnasfan from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia convincingly claimed victory over top-seed Larry Wong Long Hin in straight sets. Mohammed, who won the Boys’ Under-17 category in the Lion City Junior Open earlier in June, was the more consistent player of the two, resulting in many of Larry’s attempts at the front court finding the tin instead.

Similarly, in the Girl’s Under-19 event, top-seed Harleein Tan of Malaysia beat fellow compatriot Arissa Faria Syed Kebir, in straight sets. Harleein’s impressive length hitting forced many loose returns from Arissa, opportunities that Harleein readily to capitalise on to secure victory.

Singapore was also represented in the finals. In the Girls’ Under-17 event, second seed Naisha Singh pushed top seed Jinoreeka Ning Manivannan of Malaysia to five sets, with Naisha taking the first two games. However, Jinoreeka managed to regain her composure and cut back on unforced errors, eventually taking the next three sets and the title.

Yet Singapore was not without a champion, as in the Girls Under-13 event, top-seed Kareena Sashikumar cruised to victory in three sets over Karesha Kugan of Malaysia. An on-form Kareena was dominant during the match, often finding her mark as the match went on and eventually lifting the title.
In other events, the Boys’ Under-17 saw Osama Al-Bataineh of Jordan edge out top seed Muhammad Haiqal Hazim Syarudin of Malaysia in a three close games. In the Boys’ Under-15 event, Lokkesh Wigneswaran of Malaysia emerged victorious over fellow Malaysian Vidhurran Ruthiran, while in the Girls’ Under-15, it was once again an all-Malaysia affair as Sailajja Chandrasegaran beat Yoga Varunayvie Subramaniam. The Boys’ Under-13 final saw Hisshan Nair Tan of Malaysia beat Rishabh Shyam of the Unites States of America in a match that crossed the hour mark. In the Boys’ Under-11, Syed Muhd Arash Adamsa beat fellow Malaysian and top-seed Iman Dylan Saadan in four close games, while Hau Yi So of Hong Kong, China gained victory over second-seed Kavilaasri Balamurugan of Malaysia in four games as well, with the first two games going into the tie-break.
We would like to thank Team Ultimate Squasher for another successful event, as well as title sponsor ONCOCARE for their steadfast support of the Singapore Junior Open.
